The Gardenia Bonsai

The Gardenia Bonsai Is a beauty with its dark green wax like foliage, as well as its wonderful perfume and white flowers. The gardenia begins flowering around the middle of spring and continues flowering until early summer while throughout this time will fill your home with its adorable perfume. These little Beauties should at first be placed where they get filtered sunlight, or morning sun and afternoon partial shade. Placing your Gardenia Bonsai plant directly into full hot sun could cause the leaves to burn.

 Gardenia - Large (jasminoides radicans)

The irresistible large white fragrant flowers of the Gardenia explode with blooms from May to August under ideal conditions. The tree has dark green waxy foliage and makes a beautiful contrast to the delicate flowers. Best to place outdoors in summer and fall for optimum blooms.Humidity tray is recommended.

The Gardenia Bonsai loves the sun and because of this it is common sense that it also likes the water. It must be checked everyday although you must be careful not to flood the plant, so make sure you give it just enough water to keep the soil damp and moist. Under no circumstances fertilize the plant while in flower. Fertilize the plant every two or three weeks during spring and autumn and be sure to use a fertilizer for the Gardenia Bonsai which is suited for acid loving plants.

When pruning the Gardenia Bonsai make sure it is after the flowers bloom. This is when you can be creative in shaping your Gardenia Bonsai tree to the desired affect you want to archive.

Wiring the Gardenia Bonsai is best done in late spring to autumn, and making sure that you take great care in protecting its bark and branches. It is also a good idea not to do this while the plant is getting buds. Repot every one to two years around late winter or spring after Flowering. The roots are fine, for this reason it is a good idea to only remove about Ten Percent of the roots on the Gardenia Bonsai Plant.
