Bonsai Palm Trees

       Bonsai Palm Trees as dwarf trees have a very tropical feel and look about them and with palms this is what you expect them to create when setting the decor theme. With medium light and cool temperatures these are generally easy to grow as Bonsai Palm Trees.

       When growing a Bonsai Palm Tree look for some of the shorter types.  The two I will mention here are our personal choose, we have had much success with both and they look stunning. The ponytail Palm and the Sago Palm as shown on this page will give you some insight to these varieties as Bonsai Palm Trees.

Ponytail Palm-Extra Large (Beaucamea Recurvata) The most striking feature of the Ponytail Palm is the swollen base of the trunk. The texture of the trunk looks and feels scaly like the foot of an elephant and is also known as Elephants Foot. The extraordinary thickening of the trunk serves as a water reservoir against dry spells, allowing the tree to go up to four (4) weeks without water and causing no ill effects. Excellent in low or higher lighting conditions. The Ponytail is an excellent choice for home, office or anywhere. Very easy indoor maintenance. 20 years old 20" - 25" tall Suitable 10 1/2" x 14 1/2" oversized humidity tray is recommended.

        Ponytail Bonsai Palm Trees look great with their texture being and feeling very scaly like an Elephants foot which is also what they are also known as.  The thick of the trunk makes it like a storage system for the water in dry spells so they can go for quiet a few weeks without water. This Bonsai Palm tree is wonderful for low and high lighting areas in the office and home.

       The Sago Bonsai Palm Trees is one palm that can handle a little neglect although with a lot of attention excels. The sago adjusts well to areas with indirect sunlight or full sun.  Sago has a slow growth and indoors need only be watered when almost dry and do not need fertilizing regularly so this means the care is not as demanding, for us busy people with a rushed lifestyle this makes it the ideal Bonsai Palm Tree.

Sago Palm 28"x28"x28" (cycas revoluta) - The Sago Palm is a long-lived exotic palm that tolerates neglect but thrives with attention. Adapts to indirect light or full sun and has a wide temperature range from 15 to 120 degrees F. A slow growth rate allows indoor specimens to remain in the same container indefinately. Treat as a cactus - water when almost dry and seldom fertilize. Great indoor bonsai. 35 years old. 28"x28"x28". Potted in an 18" ceramic black oval container as shown. Suitable 18"x13" humidity tray is recommended.
