The Sweet Acacia Bonsai  

           The Sweet Acacia Bonsai has very small feather like leaflets and is a soft green color. The stems are a chocolate brown or sometimes they can be a grey colour and have sharp short thorns. The small, yellow, puffy ball like flowers has a very sweet fragrance and appears in late winter. The fruits have a glossy look and hold seeds which attract wildlife, and birds. Sweet Acacia Bonsai is great for indoors and is a native of Africa.

      This Acacia Bonsai as a house plant or patio plant needs full sun and to be kept moist, do not leave them standing in water as they do not like to be totally wet, only evenly moist and under no circumstances let them get to dry. Trim as needed and if the Acacia Bonsai tree is placed indoors then normal house temperatures are fine.

      The wiring for the Acacia Bonsai is done from spring to autumn, every second year. You must take great care when wiring, as their branches can be very delicate. The trees need minor pruning regularly Acacia Bonsai have compound leaves and needs minor pruning regularly, so leaf pruning is futile.

      Depending on the age of the Acacia Bonsai they usually like to be repotted every two to four years and usually do better in a   deeper Pot. Use a fast draining soil mix which is low in organic material.  The best time to repot before the tree is introduced to warmer weather. Some of the Diseases and Pests that may affect these trees are Aphids, Mites and Flies, the leaves of the Acacia Bonsai can also sometimes be infected with anthracnose.

      Other varieties of Acacia Bonsai are Longifolia which is commonly known as Sydney Golden Wattle, which is a very Hardy with a brilliant colour flower. Mollissima (Black Wattle) another very hardy species with bipinnate leaves and Glaucescens (Coast Myall) this is one of the best for an Acacia Bonsai.
